The garden club and the city beautification team ask the greenhouse class to take an active roll in storing the plants, help replace summer foliage with fall ornamentals in the sidewalk holders, and help manage and replace part of the foliage and ornamental on the town square. They also ask us if we would start and re pot all the plants for the spring planting all over town. The kids just love all the attention, it's given them a feeling of importance which makes them more involved and care more about the subject and the work their doing. If you have the opportunity or make an opportunity to get your students involved in high profile activities with your town, it makes your job so much easier, even though it takes alot of time it's worth it.
I was able to use a couple of the study skill strategies with my plant science class. We used the storm and perform, the frayer model, and the comic strip to get ready for the EOC exam the state agriculture department will give on 12-11-09. The kids loved the strategies and most said it made it alot easier to study the material, we'll see on the 12th. Wish us luck.
Another perk of my job?? Tomorrow evening I'll meet with several students of the rodeo club, which I'm an active sponsor, to saddle up about six and lead the city wide Christmas parade through town. It's great to be a part of something that is so active, good clean fun, and the kids enjoy every minute of it. They are so proud to be called on to do something so important, instead of being looked at as second class students. Usually if it doesn't relate to football nobody cares. This gives them something to make them feel like they are a part of the school also. If anyone is not busy come over about six and watch the parade, if not have a Merry Christmas.
We were able to start our Thanksgiving holiday off right. Our FFA, along with myself and another sponsor started at 3:00 am on Friday morning BBQ an entire hog and served it to the entire agri. dept for lunch as a way to welcome the 9th grade members in to the program. The food was good and the fellowship was great. That's just another perk to my job. I'm not real sure I can call it a job , I don't think you can call something that you have so much fun doing a job.
The second photo of my son, wife and myself was senior night at the football game. My son is section leader and first chair of the drumline. For the four years that he's been in the senior band he has written the drum cadence they use to march on and off the field and during local parades. Last year during competition his cadence was chosen as one of the top three out of twenty bands. Yea I'm a proud father.
This first photo is one of the great things about my job. I took the FFA show team to a district goat show and this three year old young lady was showing her goat for the first time and she was great. You could probably tell her whole family raises goat and shows. Our team done very well in the show. One student received reserve champion in class and another won 3rd place overall. I was very proud of them.

Left Behind

This is a great book. If you like christian fiction based on a true story you'll love this book. For me it put alot of things in perspective for me. This book is about the rapture that happens when time comes to an end. The people that have trusted in Christ have been caught up to be with him in heaven. The people that didn't trust him have been left behind. The story begins with an airplane pilot that has come home and his wife and son are gone, then he remembers what his wife had been telling him about trusting the Lord and making his home in Heaven. He realizes at that moment what she had been telling him was true. Then he gets a call from his daughter who is away at college. She to is wandering what is going on so, he tells her. The world is in total cause and it's hard to get around. Stores are being looted and people are walking around injured dazed and confused. His daughter is able to make it to their home and they go to the church where they meet a preacher that had preached the gospel for years but, had never completely gave God his trust. The three form an alliance with a couple of other people that know what's going on and they try to survive. You must realize there are so many people gone that no place is safe, the water supply can't be trusted, food is hard to find because electric power is down every where and the food is spoiling. Gasoline for cars is impossible to get because no power, roads are block from so many accidents. The book goes on showing you the impossible mobility for people and then the first vials of Gods wrath are opened. This is explained in the book of revelations in the Bible. The vials are opened an everything the Lord said would happen begins to unfold. This is a very action packed book. It's well written. When I started reading it, it was very hard to put it down. I would find myself reading it way into the night. This book began a series of about 11 books and their all just as good as the first. Every christian should make time they are Good!!!!!

I have a lady who comes into to of my classes she's there to help the students with IEP's but she mainly tries to tell me how to discipline my class. I'm one of those people who doesn't require my students to sit there like robots and say nothing, write down everything I say, and raise their hand everytime they want to say something. I like a little bit of liberty with my students I don't want them running around like 3rd graders during recess but, I want the to feel free to dicuss and be themselves. She is very old school and she don't miss a chance to "help" me. How do you tell someone in a nice way to, let up back up and see if my way will work. I hate to just tell her right out because I have her everyday and our relationship could effect the students. Right now I just deal with it per class.
My greenhouse class is going great. I have several students bring plants for propagating and they are very inerested inthe outcome. We applied $500.00 foundation grant to, grow decorative plants to put in our Administration building and other district 0ffices. They awarded us the grant and we have begun work on the project. After recieving this grant our prinipal came to us and wants us to landscape and plant ornamentals in the main drive to the high school offices. We recieved this as a priviledge so, we've begun work on this project also. Looks like it's going to be a busy year.
I have a class that meets first thing on A day of block scheduling. The class has several football players and several students who lack alot of desire to learn. I've tried several thing to try and motivate them to learn. We have done activities outside and no one seems to be interested. I've tried on hand experiments in the class and no one cares. I've used worksheets which help some. The only thing I've found that interest them is coloring. I couldn't believe 11 th graders would be interested in coloring but, they do. Now, I'm looking for some thing else. Computers don't work either,I tried taking them to the lab nothing. Funny thing is I have a class just like them on B day 4th period and they love all this stuff. It's just this one class. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Title: Riders of the Silver Rim

Author: Brock & Bodie Thoene

This is the first of a four book series in a Christian based fiction

western. This is the first time I have read anything these writers have written

and I must say they have a very good story to tell and the plot keeps you

turning the pages. It begins with a gentleman that has passed out from thirst

in the desert. A Good Samaritan happens along in the nick of time. The old

miner carries him back to his tent a nurse’s him back to life. The old miner

introduces him to owner of the local mine where he gets a job as a

blacksmith. Low and behold the owner Mr. Morris has a beautiful daughter.

The daughter named Callie is blind but, she sees better than anyone else that

has sight. This young woman is a devote Christian and her and Joshua

finally have the chance to meet. The first meeting wasn’t what Josh

expected; she was scolding him for the way he had treated one of the local

drunks.

After making things right in that situation the two were able to meet

on more favorable terms. In the mean time Josh figures out the local saloon

owner is trying to sabotage the Morris Mine in order to buy the mine in a

failing state. The town is very rough and lawless. The only thing the Morris’

have is their devote belief in God. Josh is a good man and believes in God

but, doesn’t show it as much until he meets the Morris’. Once Josh has

discovered the saloon owner intend he has to have proof before approaching

Mr. Morris. While digging for the evidence Mr. Morris offers to employ him

as the constable of the lawless town. At first he refuses but after much

thought he accept hoping this will help him uncover the evidence he needs to

prove the saloon owners intend of a ruthless take over.

As Josh gets closer to the truth the owner of the saloon get more

careless and finally the owner of the saloon and his hired gun kidnapped

Callie and take her to the desert. Of course, her knight in shining armor goes

after her. Josh loses his horse in the chase and almost dies in the desert. By

the grace of God he is able to find the three of them and in a shoot out is able

to take Callie back to her father. The book leaves you guessing if they

married or not I guess I’ll find out in the next book.

The plot is kind of old fashion but, the point of the book is everyday

life. If you like a clean book and a good western this book is for you.
I've attended several sessions with students who are failing a class with me. This one particular student is in Environmental Science In this class they are required to keep a daily journal and a notebook. This student hadn't been keeping his journal after speaking to him several times he quits keeping a notebook. My conversations with him were not harsh as a matter of fact they were more a long the line of pleading with him. I made sure he understood that he would not be able to pass this class without his notebook and journal. During the session he tells his parents he lost both of these items. They want to know if they replaced the items if he would get a passing grade???????? Where are peoples minds these days. They were wanting me to give him something that I had been trying to get him to do all along. Am I the only one????

I finally got the reception and the speed some what fixed. Now I' can't do anything but, post. Everytime I go to customize the add & arrange element page comes up so, I go to add a gadet, I type in interesting lins in the search bar because there is no interesting link shown, then there are five windows to choose from none of them will post my link to my cover page. Could someone lay this procedure out so, a first grader can understand it. As you can tell I'm really far behind because, I don't know what I'm doing but, I would really like to do this.
Hey Guys, I haven't dropped the class, I'm just having major problems with this dial-up connection in rural Ashley Co. I finally receved my wireless service from AT&T and It's great. I can actually move around without dropping the signal and I don't have to wait 30 mins for it to load a site. It's very frustrating to try and do anything.

Maybe that's over.
My classes are going great, In Agri. their is alot of after school and daily demands outside the classroom. Which, that cuts down on class time for me. But,It's worth. That past week I took our FFA show team to District in Pine Bluff for two school day's. Two days away from home with twelve teenagers is very challenging. It's worth it.
