The garden club and the city beautification team ask the greenhouse class to take an active roll in storing the plants, help replace summer foliage with fall ornamentals in the sidewalk holders, and help manage and replace part of the foliage and ornamental on the town square. They also ask us if we would start and re pot all the plants for the spring planting all over town. The kids just love all the attention, it's given them a feeling of importance which makes them more involved and care more about the subject and the work their doing. If you have the opportunity or make an opportunity to get your students involved in high profile activities with your town, it makes your job so much easier, even though it takes alot of time it's worth it.
I was able to use a couple of the study skill strategies with my plant science class. We used the storm and perform, the frayer model, and the comic strip to get ready for the EOC exam the state agriculture department will give on 12-11-09. The kids loved the strategies and most said it made it alot easier to study the material, we'll see on the 12th. Wish us luck.
Another perk of my job?? Tomorrow evening I'll meet with several students of the rodeo club, which I'm an active sponsor, to saddle up about six and lead the city wide Christmas parade through town. It's great to be a part of something that is so active, good clean fun, and the kids enjoy every minute of it. They are so proud to be called on to do something so important, instead of being looked at as second class students. Usually if it doesn't relate to football nobody cares. This gives them something to make them feel like they are a part of the school also. If anyone is not busy come over about six and watch the parade, if not have a Merry Christmas.
We were able to start our Thanksgiving holiday off right. Our FFA, along with myself and another sponsor started at 3:00 am on Friday morning BBQ an entire hog and served it to the entire agri. dept for lunch as a way to welcome the 9th grade members in to the program. The food was good and the fellowship was great. That's just another perk to my job. I'm not real sure I can call it a job , I don't think you can call something that you have so much fun doing a job.
The second photo of my son, wife and myself was senior night at the football game. My son is section leader and first chair of the drumline. For the four years that he's been in the senior band he has written the drum cadence they use to march on and off the field and during local parades. Last year during competition his cadence was chosen as one of the top three out of twenty bands. Yea I'm a proud father.
This first photo is one of the great things about my job. I took the FFA show team to a district goat show and this three year old young lady was showing her goat for the first time and she was great. You could probably tell her whole family raises goat and shows. Our team done very well in the show. One student received reserve champion in class and another won 3rd place overall. I was very proud of them.

Left Behind

This is a great book. If you like christian fiction based on a true story you'll love this book. For me it put alot of things in perspective for me. This book is about the rapture that happens when time comes to an end. The people that have trusted in Christ have been caught up to be with him in heaven. The people that didn't trust him have been left behind. The story begins with an airplane pilot that has come home and his wife and son are gone, then he remembers what his wife had been telling him about trusting the Lord and making his home in Heaven. He realizes at that moment what she had been telling him was true. Then he gets a call from his daughter who is away at college. She to is wandering what is going on so, he tells her. The world is in total cause and it's hard to get around. Stores are being looted and people are walking around injured dazed and confused. His daughter is able to make it to their home and they go to the church where they meet a preacher that had preached the gospel for years but, had never completely gave God his trust. The three form an alliance with a couple of other people that know what's going on and they try to survive. You must realize there are so many people gone that no place is safe, the water supply can't be trusted, food is hard to find because electric power is down every where and the food is spoiling. Gasoline for cars is impossible to get because no power, roads are block from so many accidents. The book goes on showing you the impossible mobility for people and then the first vials of Gods wrath are opened. This is explained in the book of revelations in the Bible. The vials are opened an everything the Lord said would happen begins to unfold. This is a very action packed book. It's well written. When I started reading it, it was very hard to put it down. I would find myself reading it way into the night. This book began a series of about 11 books and their all just as good as the first. Every christian should make time they are Good!!!!!
